Thailand Property Award winners celebrate In style at the 10th Anniversary Awards
Property Report have been selecting the top property developers in Thailand and celebrating their achievements since 2006. This year’s event was held at prestigious Plaza Athenee Bangkok, a Royal Meridien hotel. Established and up-and-coming developers in Bangkok, Phuket, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, Khao Yai, Samui and Eastern Seaboard competed for a total of 29 categories over three sections: Developer, Development and Design.
The biggest award for Best Developer went to Three-time nominee SC Asset Corporation PLC, with ‘MQDC’ Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Limited receiving a Highly Commended certificate in the same category who were also presented a Special Recognition in Corporate Social Responsibility.
SC Asset has completed over 50 projects since 2010 focusing on establishing sustainable and lively neighbourhoods.
Best Housing Development Bangkok award was also given to SC Asset for their Granada Pinklao project. They also were awarded a Highly Commended certificate in the Best Affordable Condo Development (Bangkok) for its Centric Tiwanon Station project.
Absolute World Group won the Best Boutique Developer category with an impressive collection of environmentally forward thinking resorts. They also received two Highly Commended honours for current developments on Phuket and Samui.
The most nominated developer this year was Minor International Plc, winning Best Residential Interior Design for The Residences by Anantara, a project undertaken by its Hua Hin Resort.
Company Limited and they also received four Highly Commended certificates: two in Design, and one each for villa and hotel developments.
William Heinecke, CEO and Chairman of The Minor Group was awarded the very special honour of being Real Estate Personality of the Decade (to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the awards): It was noted that the Thai property market has remained buoyant even though there have been economic and political uncertainties to navigate through in recent years. In particular the high end market has remained solid, especially in Bangkok.
The recently completed AIA Sathorn Tower by AIA Company Limited won a three awards for Best Commercial Development (Thailand), Best Green Development, and Best Office Development. Andara Signature Resort and Villas by Andamandara Development Co., Ltd. claimed four trophies, including Best Housing Development (Thailand) and Best Villa Development (Phuket), plus two design awards.
The awards evening was attended by over 500 real estate VIPs, developers and construction industry leaders. The event was organised by Ensign Media, including a six month run up to the night accumulating facts and figures in order to choose the winners.
Terry Blackburn, CEO of Ensign Media, gave his opening remarks;
“For 10 years the Thailand Property Awards, and the entire Asia Property Awards programme as a whole, have demonstrated that excellence and adherence to quality never go out of style,” said Terry Blackburn, CEO of Ensign Media. “The high quality of developments in Thailand has allowed the industry to transform itself from being an emerging market in 2006, to becoming one of the stars of Southeast Asian real estate today, despite certain economic or socio-political challenges.”
“Real estate is too vital for the future of Thailand, and the Asia Property Awards wouldn’t exist without Thailand,” he added. Next up are the South East Asia Property Awards 2015, which will take place at The Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore on Wednesday, 21 October. Here Thailand’s developers will be up against their ASEAN peers in the heavy weight grand finale!
